Hi Folks,

The purpose of this discussion thread is to organize our Demo Your Code and Share Ideas at Hacker/Coder May 25th Get-Together event.

If you would like to demo your apps/code/design-patterns, or simply ask for suggestions/help with something you don't quite know how to tackle please reply to this thread with the following:

1) Your name (unless it's obvious from your Meetup.com handle)
2) A short description of what you would like to demo or ask
3) How much time you think you need (it can be as short as 2 mins or as long as 20 mins)
4) Your short bio (optional)

Let's make this happen! This is going to be an awesome event: for community, by community!

Cheers,
Saša

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it that day, but if I can I'll be demoing an app/widget I've built to display stock portfolio data from Google Finance.

There are two things I'd like help with:
A) Integrating the Gdata v2 API and libraries bc the v1 libs seemed unable to re-use the Google auth data already stored in Android's AccountManager.
B) Strategies for dealing with the constraints of a Widget. Specifically, it seems impossible to add Views to it on-the-fly, so I've hard-coded about a thousand TextViews into it, but maybe someone has a better strategy.

I think I can demo it and explain the challenges above in about 15m and even if we can't solve the problems I hope that hearing about them will help others plan their own development.

Thanks in advance,
Lenny

I am a noob at developing Android apps, having only started writing my first one in January, so I am hardly qualified to teach anyone anything. But if possible, I would like to give a quick demo of my app and get feedback on the user interface and especially how to change the design so it will function on different screen sizes and resolutions. I also have a technical question I would like help with: I would like to know how to extend TimePicker to add seconds and I would also like to know how create a general-purpose number picker, using the underlying UI element in TimePicker.
