As the organizer for this meetup group, I often get requests from various cool companies in the Bay Area to market their job opportunities to our group.
While I think that the best way to promote these positions is to announce them at our meetings, I understand that this is not always feasible. So, I am creating this discussion thread as a way for companies to publish their Java employment opportunities (as replies) and the members that wish to be notified will simply track this discussion. If you have a better suggestion, please let me know. Thanks. Update (April 20th, 2010): Meetup.com finally made it possible to organize discussion threads into forums, so as a result I created a Job Listings forum. Since it's possible for our members to track forums (just like individual threads) I suggest that all future job postings be sent to this forum instead of this tread. I'm looking for a local development studio with proven Android experience for a friend. Bonus points if they have widget, embedded or custom / home-brew Android platform experience. The Android group has a great pool of talent, but I'm really looking for a group that can get the job done right, knows the platform well, etc.

Hi,
I work for a large US semi-conductor company. You've almost certainly got some of our chips in the products you own + use - the majority of Android phones at the moment are using silicon designed and shipping by our company. Currently we have an Android team that is engaged with making cool phones for some tier 1 companies. Whilst we're doing Android integration, most of the work involves augmenting large chunks of the media player, camera, graphics and audio subsystems to support our fancy internal technology and there is a lot of new software to write and hack around. We're looking for 2 types of people really: * hackers interested in linux (kernel + user space), Android apps + internals, curiosity about all things technical and ready to learn about the internals of ARM SoC's and make the software sing. * software developers with hardcore embedded experience and some architectural background If you have skills in both these areas, more the better ;0) We have around 5+ job openings in the team at the moment based in Sunnyvale and can recruit at a range of experience levels from grad to veteran. Intelligence, drive, a passion for technology and a solid background in C are enough to get you through the door. Android experience is a plus - coming to these meetups is a large positive as well. I will be attending the Android meet-ups so feel free to come and chat about this then, or your welcome to pop into the office or meetup in SF / Sunnyvale for an informal chat if your curious. Feel free to contact me at my personal address: android_meetup at lamb-chop.co.uk - we're after good engineers to come into our tight knit team and prefer the personal touch than having to go through corporate HR stuff. For this reason, no recruiters please! Use the front door instead.. Cheers, Nick |

This new group at Cisco produces products such as the Flip Video line of camcorders and the newly announced Valet home router. Specifics are not as important as being a good all-round Android engineer, but experience in networking and video is a plus. We are interviewing now and looking to hire in early May. Please contact me at 415-420-1199 for details.

Meetup.com finally made it possible to organize discussion threads into forums, so as the result...
I created a Job Listings forum. If you are an SF Android User Group member and are interested in hearing about local job opportunities for Android developers, I suggest you start tracking this forum. If you are an employer/recruiter looking for Android experts, I suggest you create new threads under the same forum. As a result, I am closing this thread for additional replies. Please note that spammers will be banned from this meetup group. P.S. Big thanks goes out to Stephen Chin from SV JUG-FX for the inspiration. |
