“ Thanks to the Gargenta brothers for taking so much trouble to do this. If I were you, I'd charge people $5-$15 per session, to help in costs for pizza/drinks and that way it would be beneficial for both. One of the reasons I came was that not too many Android meetup groups go thru the trouble of going thru some sort of training without asking for hundreds of dollars. Mostly what we see is demos of apps, marketing of products and/or job announcements. If we got people to pay a small amount (ie if we couldnt get sponsors) we could have more people do these kinds of talks, for eg: I wanted to know if someone could do an intro to openGL programming, or gaming on Android, or talking about sound/video/graphics
and do some more "howto" sessions. I know a lot of people are reluctant to doing this for free cause its really a training session and a lot of work goes into this. But for a small price it might be beneficial. People wont mind paying a little to get more out of this. ”

I found the video of this meeptup on youtube. I would like thank the organizers for arranging this event and making it available to everyone on the internet. It was great instruction for beginners like me. I enjoyed it a lot.
Guys rather than arranging meets why don't You all spread the meets using Google Wave!!This way We can get a lot of development and movements in the Group!

There was a question about how to update Android devices to 1.6. If you've got an Android Dev Phone 1 or if you have an HTC Dream from Google I/O, you can get new images from: http://developer.htc.com/ Click one of the images on the right side of the screen and then (try to) follow the (awfully written) instructions.

I like the suggestion made about continuing these sorts of quick-hit courses, each with a different twist on developing Android apps (SQL tips, graphics and gaming, etc). If we walk through an application each meeting, with source code provided beforehand, I think it would go a long way.
Back in the day, I read the "Hello Android" by Ed Burnette, which I liked, but there are many others that are good. With that said, we'll be giving away some Android books at this meetup :-)
Does anyone have a recommended Android book that they particularly like?
We will record this talk and post it to YouTube, and we'll look into streaming.
I hope this talk will be youtube'd or ustreamed.
